IPL 7 Auction: List of players sold
The IPL 2014 fever kicked off today with thefirst day of the 2014 IPL Auction and it was a big fight by the franchisees to buy some of the top cricketers from popular cricket playing nations. Royal Challengers Bangalore had to break their bank to buy cancer survivor and India’s 2011 World Cup winning hero Yuvraj Singh for a whopping 14 crores. He is the highest paid player in this edition of the IPL 2014. Delhi Daredevils, the team which has so far performed poorly in the IPL, was very busy during the first day of the IPL Auction 2014 as it bought its own player and England discard Kevin Pietersen for a reasonable pay of Rs. 9 crores. Kevin Pietersen thereby became the first ‘joker’ in the IPL auctions.
Delhi Daredevils surprised everyone in the later half of the morning session when they bought wicket-keeper batsmen Dinesh Karthick for a huge sum of Rs. 12.5 crores. It was expected that Mitchell Johnson would be a hot favorite in the IPL 2014 Auction. But, Kings XI Punjab bid successfully for the in-form Ashes hero for just Rs. 6.5 crores. Kolkata Knight Riders pocketed their veteran all rounder Jacques Kallis for Rs. 5.5 crores and also bid successfully for Robin Uthappa at Rs. 5 crores. David Warner has gone to the Sunrisers Hyderabad team for a paltry Rs. 5.5 crores. The complete ipl auction 2014 results are placed here.
